Nursing Scholarship Program

Metroplex Black Nurses Association- Dallas, Inc (MBNA), is committed to excellence through education and offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate level nuring students. Funding enables the student or health care professional to continue educational training to promote and improve patient health care outcomes within their community.

Undergraduate Applicant Requirements:

  1. Accepted in an accredited nursing program

  2. Participating in clinical rotation class
  3. Good academic standing (C average in all nursing courses)
  4. Must agree to participate in at least two MBNA functions within the year of recipient of the award.
  5. Provide an official transcript and two letters of recommendations from instructors (One letter must come from a clinical instructor.)
  6. Additional items to accompany the application in support of the candidates' desirability may include documented evidence of:

    a) participation in student nurse activities and
    b) involvement in the African American Community, i.e., letters, news clippings, awards, certificates, etc.

  7. Must be a member of the National Black Nurses Association and the Metroplex Black Nurses Association.

Scholarship Award: $300.00 to best-qualified applicant.  Applicants can only apply and receive this award twice.

Graduate Applicant Requirements

  1. Must be an active member in MBNA (Active membership is defined as paid member to National and Local chapters; and participates in at least two MBNA functions annually. Has completed 15 hours of graduate study course work.

  2. Additional items to accompany the application in support of the candidates desirability may include documented evidence of:

    a) participation in student nurse activities and
    b) involvement in the African American Community, i.e., letters, news clippings, awards,
    certificates, etc.

Scholarship Award: $300.00 to best-qualified applicant.  Applicants can only apply and receive this award twice.
